First Level Regulatory Examination: Key Individuals

Clarification on who should be writing these examinations:
If you are a key individual, you will have to write the first level regulatory examination for key individuals (RE1)
if you are a representative you will have to write the first level representative examination (RE5).
If you are a sole proprietor, or if you fulfil the roles of both the key individual and representative, you will be required to write both examinations.

First Level Regulatory Examination Preparation: KEY INDIVIDUALS

Course Overview

All Applicants or Key Individuals who are responsible for managing and overseeing the business relating to the rendering financial services for FSPs in Category I, II, IIA, III and IV are required to write this examination.

This examination will test your understanding of:

  • The role and responsibilities of a Key Individual as required by the FAIS Act,
  • The roles and responsibilities of the Representatives they manage and oversee,
  • Fit and Proper requirements,
  • The maintenance of a register of representatives,
  • The ability to apply your knowledge in terms of the supervision requirements for Representative
  • Representatives’ ongoing training and development
  • The Representative’s obligations in terms of the Code of Conduct and their debarment.
  • The applications of your knowledge of compliance, auditing and record keeping and advertising,
  • The adherence to FICA,
  • The complaints process,
  • The maintenance of the FSP license and suspension and withdrawal of an FSP license,

Course Duration

2 day public workshops or in-house group sessions.

Who Should Attend

KEY INDIVIDUALS and/or SOLE PROPRIETORS who are licenced or FSP in categories I, II, IIA and III.
All newly appointed Key Individuals.
